Dr. Jillian Lee Wiggins was awarded the Brain and Behavior Foundation’s prestigious NARSAD Young Investigator Grant. With this 2-year grant, Dr. Wiggins is investigating neural pathways to irritability in adolescents. Irritability is one of the most common and most debilitating psychiatric symptoms in youths. Adolescents with irritability are at greater risk for mental disorders, financial problems, and suicide in adulthood. Dr. Wiggins’ project investigates ways that brain pathways differ in youths who go on to develop irritability, so that this information can be used to predict which youths will need interventions to prevent irritability and subsequent problems.
