Jerome M. Sattler, Ph.D. is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology. He received his Ph.D. in 1959 and his MA in 1953 from the University of Kansas. His BS in psychology was from City College of New York in 1952. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and was awarded a Fulbright lectureship in 1972. In 1959 he began his teaching career at Fort Hays Kansas State College. He then taught at the University of North Dakota from 1961 until 1965. In 1965 he joined the Psychology Department at San Diego State University. In August 1994, he retired from active teaching and became Professor Emeritus.
He is the author of Assessment of Children, Revised and Updated Third Edition and of Clinical and Forensic Interviewing of Children and Families: Guidelines for the Mental Health, Education, Pediatric, and Child Maltreatment Fields. In the past he served as consulting editor for seven other psychology and psychoeducational journals. He served as an expert witness in the Larry P. v Wilson Riles trial and has advised the plaintiffs in the Crawford v Honig litigation. He has published over 99 articles in the fields of clinical and school psychology and related areas, and is one of the co-authors of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition. He also published, with Joseph Ryan, a supplement to his text, called Assessment of Children: WAIS-III Supplement. In 1998, he received the Senior Scientist Award of Division 16 (School Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.
