New Book
I've written a book about all of my research on generations, called Generation Me: Why Today's Young Americans Are More Confident, Assertive, Entitled -- and More Miserable Than Ever Before. It uses data from 1.3 million young people to show the real differences among generations on things like self-esteem, individualism, anxiety, and sexuality. I use lots of examples from the media (movies, songs, TV shows) and stories from real people. To find out more about the book, click here. Research Areas and Selected Publications
I am primarily interested in three areas of research: social rejection, birth cohort differences (change over time in traits and attitudes), and meta-analyses. Many of my early publications examined gender roles, and I am still open to projects in that area as well. To find out more go to the Research and Selected Publications page.
