Please join us in congratulating Sandy Larios, Ph.D.,who was chosen for a second place award in the national "Outstanding Dissertation Competition" for her dissertation titled "Using the Social Ecological Model to understand the contextual factors associated with HIV risk in commercial sex workers at high risk for contracting HIV."  Her SDSU faculty mentor was Dr. Linda Gallo.

The competition, sponsored the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) and Educational Testing Services, spotlights top doctoral students and rewards excellence in Hispanic student performance at the doctoral level. Sandy will present her research at AAHHE's annual meeting next month, where she will receive formal recognition for her award. 

Sandy graduated from the SDSU/USCD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology in 2008, and is currently completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Her title is Postdoctoral Fellow in the Clinical Services Research Program at UCSF.
